Why do I need a fast internet connection to use FOY?
FOY uses powerful servers in the Cloud to achieve automatic results – however this processing is quite involved. Feature Film quality effects traditionally take days or weeks to produce – but FOY is able to use massive parallel Cloud processing to deliver you results in a few minutes. Your smartphone needs at least 5Mb/sec upload speeds to successfully upload your content to our Cloud. When the results are finished, you will need at least 5Mb/sec download speeds to get processed media back to your handset.

How do I edit the preset “Looks”?
“Looks” in FOY can be fully customized; just double tap on the Look Icon and you will see a scrollable list of face attributes that can be tweaked. Once you have a desired set of changes, you can save a custom Pre-Set while in the editor module. Then these customizations will be just ‘one-touch’ away for the next photo or video that you want to process.

Why does FOY use coins and how do they work in the App?
FOY uses coins as a form of a metered paywall. Long videos, and larger resolution videos use much more Cloud processing resources than short ones and still photos. For this reason, coins are used as a way to make sure that subscribers that use the most processing are paying for it. Photos consume one coin, while a 10 sec video @ HD will require the use of 10 coins. A one-minute video @ HD will use 60 coins. 4k videos require much more processing, therefor they are charged 20 coins per every 10 seconds.

Why doesn’t FOY work in real-time?
Movies are made over months, not seconds. The movie quality processing employed by FOY requires 1000’s of processor cores being used in parallel to retouch your media in a few minutes. This means that FOY can analyze your media at a higher quality than real time apps that must cut corners to preserve their speed.

Why can’t I apply a FOY Look while I’m recording my video or photo?
FOY was designed to conform to the professional workflow used by Hollywood VFX professionals – shoot your content ‘clean’ without any filters or stylistic looks baked into the footage. This is sometimes referred to as ‘RAW’ material. You can use any camera app that you want, or you can shoot with the FOY camera. After shooting the content, make editorial decisions in regard to which ‘take’ to use, and selected this content in the FOY Gallery. Next, trim the selected ‘take’ down to the exact length you want to use by adjusting the trim widgets on the timeline at the bottom of the screen.
At this point, you can tap ‘next’ to use the editor module in FOY to apply preset ‘Looks’. Once a look has been applied and/or tweaked to satisfaction, submit it to the Cloud by tapping the Process button in the editor, and download the finished media when processing is complete.
The primary advantage of this workflow is that editorial & retouching decisions can be made after filming, and those decisions can be tweaked and changed over and over. This is the Hollywood way!

Why does FOY need access to my iPhone’s Photo Gallery?
FOY requires access to media on your smartphone – if access is denied to the gallery, FOY cannot perform its most basic functions. FOY only uploads media that you select – the gallery created thumbnails of your media, but we do NOT upload any media that hasn’t been selected by the user. In order to user the camera, FOY needs permission for the camera to save images to your Photo Gallery.

Does FOY access my Contacts or my E-mail?
FOY does NOT access your contacts, emails, or any other user information. We don’t collect advertising data, nor do we offer advertising within the App.

What’s the difference between Premium and 4K subscriptions?
Premium subscription processes videos at HD resolution, which is commonly defined as an image of 1920 pixels by 1080 pixels (or 1080x1920 vertically). 4K subscription processes video content that is 4096 pixels by 2160 pixels (or 2160x4096 vertically). 4K is literally four times more image information than HD, which means that 4K media will take four times longer to process and transfer. While the computations do take a several moments longer, we think the results are priceless. Photos process in resolutions up to 8K in either Premium or 4K subscriptions.

Can FOY really handle 8K photo re-touching?
Yes! FOY is based on true Hollywood Visual Effects technology, and one of advantages of this being able to handle extremely large image resolutions. Effectively, FOY is future proof as the cameras on smartphones continue to improve, FOY is already able to handle the larger images and improved color fidelity. This allows FOY to be used on media beyond just what is needed for social networks, like advertising, headshots, promotions, and more.
